“As the cost of intelligence collapses, intelligence itself ceases to be the constraint. The bottleneck shifts to taste, judgement and question-selection. The real leverage belongs to those who can direct intelligence, not those who generate it”
Neel Khokhani
Guiding Principles
Epochal Collection is continually being shaped by a small set of interconnected themes rather than fixed categories. These themes guide how works are selected, understood, and cared for over time.
The focus is on artists who explore identity, memory, and power. How personal and collective identities are formed, how histories are remembered or erased, and how systems of visibility shape what is seen and valued. Across all works, form matters: material, process, scale, and composition are treated as meaningful choices, not decoration.
The collection is built with a long-term perspective. Works are acquired for lasting stewardship and potential intergenerational transfer, prioritising coherence and depth over volume or speed. When necessary, works may be thoughtfully deaccessioned to strengthen the integrity of the collection as a whole. The approach is market-aware but not market-driven. Financial context is considered, but decisions are guided by quality, conviction, and relevance rather than trends or speculation.
The collection is intended as a vehicle for cultural transmission. It supports selective institutional lending, research, and collaboration where these deepen understanding and preserve meaning over time.
Above all, the collection values discipline and restraint. Collecting with intention, clarity, and care, and allowing the collection to evolve without losing its core purpose.
